Reimagining Inflatable Furniture
Inflatables are flat sheets of fabric stitched and blown with air at a desired pressure. The air instantly forms spheres inside the fabric pockets, giving inflatables this inherent plump form language. When learning this, Krishna drew the comparison to round seed pods. Pod takes a nod at this mesmerizing repeated natural form and creates an organic, cocooning space to sit, breathe, and live with.
When designing an inflatable collection for interior use, I drew inspiration from seed pods. I noticed that the bubble-like surfaces of inflatables and made the comparison to the organic round pods plants grow to protect seeds. The organic design language brings confidence and appreciation to the infatable technology being developed by LILO.
